Hollywood Sign

Sitting atop Mt. Lee in the Hollywood Hills, the Hollywood sign stands four stories high (letters are 45 feet tall) and stretches 450 feet in width. One of the most photographed signs in the world, it has appeared in countless movies, tourist photos, record album covers, you name it.

There are several trails for hikers to get close to the sign which is surrounded by a wire fence and patrolled by LAPD all the time. Hours of access are the same as Griffith Park where the sign is located (sunrise to sunset every day of the year). If you don’t want to hike up to the sign there are still many vantage points from which to photograph it. Griffith Observatory is one of the best.
