About Mission Santa Clara de Asis in Santa Clara, California
Mission Santa Clara de Asis is located on the campus of the private Catholic Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA. It was established in 1777 as the 8th of 21 Spanish Missions constructed along the California coast. The city of Santa Clara and the county of the same name were named for the historic mission. Today the mission is still used as a parish church and a chapel for the University.
The Santa Clara Mission is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m, just know that the church may be in use when you visit. As you enter the university campus ask for a free visitor permit and directions to parking. There is no admission fee for self-guided tours of the mission and the grounds.
