About San Gregorio Private Beach in San Gregorio, California
San Gregorio Private Beach is a clothing-optional beach on private property just north of the state-owned land in San Gregorio State Beach. It’s considered to be the first nude beach in America. San Gregorio is a narrow beach with driftwood at the base of the bluff. People build up private spaces by building up walls using drift logs. We have heard that this is almost entirely a gay beach, but the general rule is straight on the south and gay to the north. If you visit and are walking this beach sans clothes, don’t venture too far south of the beach access or you might run into families or state park rangers that can give citations. It’s possible to walk here via the beach or on bluff trails from the state beach. The Private Beach parking lot entrance is the first driveway on the ocean side of Highway 1 just north of La Honda Road. It is gated when beach access is closed, but should be open mid-day during the week and all daylight hours on the weekends. The property owners charge a small fee to park on their land.

Reviews
The beach itself is great, beautiful and lots of room, not really social unless someone has the courage to be bold. HEAVY cruising, sparse couples. Good number of super cool driftwood nests. Be warned, the people operating the access point are hit or miss, one was very sweet and kind and the other was a jackass when I walked from the state beach and got cut off by the tide my first time there, needing to walk back through their property. Did not make me want to pay the next time.
