Battery Point Lighthouse Beach in Crescent City, California
Battery Point Beach is right in Crescent City between the mainland and the rocky island with Battery Point Lighthouse sitting atop. The beach between the park and the lighthouse has huge rocks in the surf and driftwood piled up at the back. At low tides the beach connects to the island allowing visitors to walk right up to the picturesque lighthouse. Tours of the lighthouse are given to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. year-round if tides allow access to the island (see a tide table).
Adjacent to the park is a long wooden pier with parking right at the entrance to it. Also there is a paved path that leads out on the long rock jetty that protects Crescent City Harbor. Another path heads north along Battery Street and takes you to the Harbor Beach at Beach Front Park. If you come to the Crescent City waterfront you will want to walk around for a while so set aside some time. The Oceanfront Lodge is right on the water near the lighthouse if you are looking for beachfront accommodations.
