Bird Rock Beach in La Jolla, California

Bird Rock Beach is a rocky shoreline with a view of Bird Rock in the southern part of La Jolla. This area is known for tidepool exploration at low tide and for viewing birds on the big rock near the beach. The rocks on the beach are huge so be careful if you venture down here. Two rocky points exist north and south of the stairway, but it requires climbing across the boulders below the homes to ge there. Surfers sometimes hit the breaks over the reefs on these two points which are known as “North Bird Rock” and “South Bird Rock.” The stairway access to the beach can be found at the west end of Bird Rock Avenue in La Jolla. Street parking should be available nearby. La Jolla Hermosa Park is nearby with picnic tables and barbeques, but Bird Rock Beach has no facilities.
