About Coleman Beach in Bodega Bay, California

Coleman Beach is one of many small pocket beaches within Sonoma Coast State Park north of Bodega Bay. Erosion has damaged the access trail to this beach so the state parks department has been forced to put up closure signs. Now it can only be safely accessed from Miwok Beach at lower tides. Coleman Beach is located below Highway 1 at the intersection with Coleman Valley Road, a narrow scenic road that winds its way up to the town of Occidental. Just south of this intersection is the blufftop parking lot. Another smaller parking area with an overlook is right at the intersection (Arched Rock is visible to the north). The beaches along this stretch of the highway are narrow and rocky. They are great for exploring and beachcombing, but not safe for swimming. Signs say no camping, no fires, and, unfortunately, no dogs.
