Little Treasure Cove at Crystal Cove State Park

Little Treasure Cove is the northernmost part of Crystal Cove State Park between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.

Little Treasure Cove is best at low tide when the rocks and tide pools are exposed. At higher tides there will be little sand exposed at the back of the cove, but the state park has closed off the trail to the cove so it’s a moot point anyway. The old trail follows a fence that wraps around the Pelican Hill Golf Club’s South Course. Now the trail ends at an observation platform looking over Treasure Cove and Little Treasure Cove. This elevated spot is a great location for whale watching.

Below the observation platform are great tide pools that can be explored at low tides. You can get to these tide pools from Treasure Cove.

Access to Little Treasure Cove is easiest via a long paved path from the northern day-use parking area at the Pelican Point entrance. This accessible trail continues in the other direction all the way to the Reef Point area of the park – a long walk or a short bike ride.

A large rock arch can be found north of Little Treasure Cove. It is safest to access the arch at low tide or by hiking south from Cameo Shores Beach.
