About Emma Wood State Beach – North Beach in Ventura, California

North Beach at Emma Wood State Beach is a long linear RV campground right on the ocean. Unfortunately there is no tent camping at this location as they only allow “self contained vehicles.” Most of the campground only has a rocky barrier separating it from the ocean waves. At high tides the campground can sometimes be closed. Railroad tracks and Highway 101 are behind the beach and can be noisy. There are free parking spaces along Pacific Coast Highway outside of the north state park entrance, but otherwise there is no day-use parking here. The main part of Emma Wood State Beach has a day-use lot and picnic facilities, etc. The paved Omer Rains Bike Trail begins at Emma Wood State Beach and goes eight miles to San Buenaventura State Beach. From Ventura drive north on Highway 101 and take exit 72 then look for state beach signs.
