About Hare Creek Beach in Fort Bragg, California

Hare Creek Beach is in a deep cove formed by Hare Creek just south of Fort Bragg. The cove has rocks and cliffs at the water’s edge, and dunes and a densely vegetated gulch at the back of the beach. Homes and a highway are nearby, but it’s a scenic spot. A 0.7 mile long hiking trail leads from the parking area to the beach. The trailhead is located at the south end of the parking lot for College of the Redwoods Mendocino Coast (1211 Del Mar Drive in Fort Bragg). Walk toward the highway bridge and look for a Hare Creek Beach sign marking the descent. Visitors to this beach can thank the Mendocino Land Trust for acquiring this property and committing to the permanent management of it. A second beach access with limited parking can be found down a trail next to a fence at the address 18700 Cypress Road in Fort Bragg. This access often requires fording the creek which can be deep and mucky at times.
