About Moss Landing City Beach in Moss Landing, California

At the end of Sandholdt Road on the peninsula that protects Moss Landing Harbor there is a parking area with beach access. On the harbor side next to the entrance jetty there is a small beach that can be used for launching kayaks for exploring the harbor and Elkhorn Slough. But the large sandy beach on the ocean side is the one to visit.

This area of the harbor is dominated by fishing industry buildings, but this is what makes Moss Landing what it is – a small fishing village. Also visible from anywhere in this area are the tall twin stacks of the natural gas power plant behind the harbor.

Near the center of Moss Landing City Beach you’ll find Phil’s Fish Market and Eatery where you can get a seafood meal and drinks. Next to the market look for a walkway that leads to the beach.

There are other sandy beaches nearby. Just south of here off of Sandholdt Road there’s an endless sandy beach in Salinas River State Beach and a short drive to the north on Highway 1 leads to Moss Landing State Beach.
