About Salinas River State Beach – Moss Landing Entrance in Moss Landing, California
Salinas River State Beach has a northern unit with a parking lot and beach access in the small town of Moss Landing, CA. This beach is walking distance from the KOA Campground and the Moss Landing Harbor. Behind the beach is the Old Salinas River waterway, which connects the Moss Landing Harbor to the Salinas River. This forms a long sand spit between the waterway and the ocean which has dunes, wetlands, and a long sandy beach. A walking trail heads south from the parking lot and continues all the way to Salinas River State Beach at Potrero Road. Birdwatching is excellent along this entire route. The Moss Landing Beach parking lot entrance is just south of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute at 7700 Sandholdt Road. To get here drive toward the ocean on Sandholdt Road from Highway 1 and then turn left immediately after crossing the bridge.
