About Surfside Beach in Seal Beach, California

Surfside Beach is in front of the private gated community of Surfside Colony in the city of Seal Beach, California. Surfside Beach is south of the entrance to Anaheim Bay and north of the fence at Anderson Street which is the dividing line between the cities of Huntington Beach and Seal Beach. Pacific Avenue near Anderson Street is the best place to park if you want to walk on the public part of Surfside Beach. The public portion is the wet sand zone below the mean high tide level i.e. on the ocean side of the huge sand berms when they are in place. A surfing area known as Surfside Bowl is at the jetty where waves bounce off and make a right hand break. Surfside Beach with the help of the US Army Corps of Engineers is waging an ongoing battle to save their pristine beach from erosion which also threatens the low elevation homes from winter storms. South of Anderson Street is the wide sandy public beach known as Sunset Beach with parking all along Pacific Avenue.
