About Sunset Beach in Huntington Beach, California

Sunset Beach (the beach) is a wide sandy public beach in the Huntington Beach community of Sunset Beach. Sunset County Beach, as it is often called, is located about two blocks west of Pacific Coast Highway between Anderson Street and Warner Avenue. This wide sandy beach is popular for sunbathing and swimming (lifeguards are present during peak times).

A long public grass park and parking strip can be found between North and South Pacific Avenue behind the beachfront homes in Sunset Beach. This park, aptly named Linear Park, has a paved walking path down the middle and several restroom buildings. The south end has a playground for kids and another large parking lot.

On breezy days, expert kiteboarders will be zigzagging around out in the surf. On sunny days, sunbathers and local families enjoy this beach which is a bit quieter than the other HB beaches.

The beaches here are continuous so walking on the sand for miles is possible. North of Anderson Street is Surfside Beach a private beach in the city of Seal Beach. South of Warner Ave is Bolsa Chica State Beach and many miles of wide open Huntington Beach beaches all the way to the Santa Ana River.

During the winter months a tall sand berm might extend the length of Sunset Beach to protect it from erosional forces of winter storms and the California King Tides (the highest tides of the year).
