About The Hook in Santa Cruz, California
The Hook is a popular surfing spot near the intersection of East Cliff Drive and 41st Avenue in the Opal Cliffs neighborhood of Santa Cruz. There isn’t much in the way of a sandy beach at the bottom of the stairs except at low tide when you can make your way down the beach to the left. See the staircase at 38th Avenue for the best sand nearby (still small and best at low tide). If you want to watch the surfers at The Hook there is a small viewing area with benches and picnic tables along 41st Ave that look out from the bluff top.
