Dillon Beach Vacation Rentals

Dillon Beach is a quiet housing community hidden away on the northern Marin County shore. It’s not on Highway 1 and it doesn’t have any hotels. Your only options for staying in this beautiful spot are some vintage cabins and vacation rentals (see the VRBO link on this page). We think the latter is the way to go, especially if you are staying as a family. Many of the Dillon Beach vacation rentals are complete houses with 1, 2, 3, or more bedrooms, full kitchens, and all the conveniences of home. Some homes are located in town and are close enough to walk to the beach. Other homes are located in the Oceana Marin development farther up the hill and require driving to the beach. These units are all vacation rentals by the owner so they are privately-owned but rented out to the general public when the owners are not there. They are more expensive than hotel rooms, but much bigger so sharing the cost with two families makes sense. And Dillon Beach is a great spot for families.

The main beach in Dillon Beach and the beach at Lawson’s Landing are both large sandy beaches. If you want solitude, head to Lawson’s. You can get there by walking south on the sand from Dillon Beach, or by paying a fee and driving in. The main “landing” is at the end of the road where there’s a campground and marina, but beach lovers can stop in several places along the road and just hike over the dunes to find a spot of their own. Kayaking on Tomales Bay is popular and there are kayak rentals in Marshall nearby. Point Reyes National Seashore and Sonoma Coast State Park are both a short drive away with many more beach options. Dillon Beach is a fun getaway and staying in a vacation rental home is a great option.
