About Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel in Montara, California

The historic Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel offers a unique destination for travelers, perfect for exploring Pillar Point Harbor or the tidepools at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. South of San Francisco and north of Half Moon Bay, the location is ideal for surfing, kayaking, whale watching and hiking. This one-of-a-kind location once served as a late 1800s fog signal station, now reimagined as a two building hostel with around 30 dorm-style bunk-beds and some private rooms. Common areas include the living room, dining and two kitchens, while the grounds lead down to a cove beach with plenty of tide pools to explore. The Montara location is just steps from the old Point Montara Light Station and only about a mile from secluded Seal Cove.
