Summer tourists are big business for the small hippie town of Point Arena. Built around a natural cove, Point Arena is also home to Point Arena Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse you’ll find on the west coast. Visitors flock to Schooner Gulch State Beach for fishing, surfing and sensational sunsets. Bowling Ball Beach provides one of the most unusual attractions, natural “bowling ball” shaped boulders with straight stone lanes and tide pools. Point Arena Pier is a great place to fish, but there’s not much surrounding it. Just be prepared, the pier is 25 feet up from the water.
