About Salinas River State Beach – Monterey Dunes Entrance in Moss Landing, California
Salinas River State Beach is an exposed sandy coastline between the Salinas River and the town of Moss Landing at Elkhorn Slough. This long state park protects mostly undeveloped lands and is surrounded by agriculture fields. There are three separate parking areas for access to Salinas River State Beach. This southern entrance is on Monterey Dunes Way near the Monterey Dunes Colony. You can get here by turning off Highway 1 onto Molera Road and driving until you see signs for the Colony. It requires a short sandy walk across the dunes to this remote beach. A hiking trail meanders in the dunes to the north and connects to another Salinas River State Beach parking lot at the Potrero Road Entrance. Walking on the beach will take you to the Salinas River Mouth Natural Preserve.
