About Stone Lagoon Beach in Orick, California
Stone Lagoon Beach is a long wide sand bar that separates the Pacific Ocean and Stone Lagoon. The lagoon is a large open body of water in the shoreline forest between the towns of Orick and Trinidad. There is a day-use parking area for the ocean beach located at the north end of Stone Lagoon just off of Redwood Highway 101. RV’s and cars with trailers are prohibited on this narrow road. The main visitor center and bookstore for Humboldt Lagoons State Park is on the highway at the south end of Stone Lagoon. It makes a good starting point for a trip to any of the four lagoons in the area. Stone Lagoon is a popular spot for lake boating, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Swimming in the lagoon is much safer than the ocean along this stretch of the Humboldt County coastline. There is a small boat-in campground on the lakeshore for camping when the weather is favorable.
