New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California
The New Camaldoli Hermitage is open for daily visits to their bookstore from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or to attend their Eucharist (Christian ceremony commemorating the Last Supper). The Eucharist is open daily at 11:30 a.m. (11 a.m. on Sundays). During this time the bookstore is closed.
The Hermitage also allows overnight stays. Most of the rooms are for one person. Meals that are mostly vegetarian are included and to be eaten privately in the room or the adjacent garden. Consider a retreat at the Hermitage to get away from it all and contemplate life itself. It is located in the mountains of Big Sur above the small enclave of Lucia. If you visit the Hermitage for the day and still want to stay in the area as a couple or a family, then consider the Lucia Lodge.
