About A. W. Way County Park in Petrolia, California
A. W. Way Park is on a sharp bend in the Mattole River near Petrolia. This Humboldt County facility has a day-use area with access to a rocky beach on the river. It also has a campground with 30 camp sites and they can’t be reserved. So if you hoped to camp at Mattole Beach Campground and it’s fully booked, this is a backup camping option. It’s about 10 miles from Mattole Beach and 6.5 miles from Petrolia (no accommodations there).
There is a small fee for day-use and normal camping fees (7 day max stay). There are restrooms in the park and showers in the campground.
