About Arroyo Del Corral Beach in San Simeon, California

Arroyo Del Corral Beach is located about a mile north of the Piedras Blancas Light Station in San Luis Obispo County. Access to this beach is from the old Piedras Blancas Motel site. The motel is closed down, but the state owns the property and it is now part of Hearst San Simeon State Park. There is ample parking at the old motel lot right off Highway 1.

From the south end of the parking lot there is a trail system above the bluffs for hiking and exploring. The trails head south and eventually reach the beach at the mouth of Arroyo del Corral Creek. It’s a fairly large sandy beach but might be overrun with elephant seals. The portion of the beach SE of the arroyo and the motel property is closed Dec 15 – Mar 31 to protect both seals and humans. At the north end of the motel parking lot you can get down to another beach near the highway but it is rocky and not as wide as Arroyo Del Corral Beach. A new parking lot may be provided south of the old motel after the highway re-route is completed.
