About Point Piedras Blancas Beach in San Simeon, California

Point Piedras Blancas Beach is located just north of the Piedras Blancas Light Station in northern San Luis Obispo County. Windsurfers and kiteboarders have already discovered this spot and might be putting on a show. Other beach users are not permitted on the sand as this is a protected beach for northern elephant seals (water users can cross the beach). Point Piedras Blancas Beach is on state-owned property that is part of Hearst San Simeon State Park.

There is a turn-off to the parking lot from Highway 1 about a half-mile north of the entrance to the Lighthouse. A footpath leads to the bluff’s edge where you can descend to the back of the beach, or walk on the bluff to a rocky point north of the beach.

The Boucher Trail (part of the California Coastal Trail) begins here and heads south past the lighthouse to the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery.
