About Balboa Peninsula Beach in Newport Beach, California

Balboa Peninsula Beach is a long stretch of sandy beach south of the Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, California. Just south of Peninsula Park at B Street on Balboa Peninsula there is a wide area of dunes that has been saved from development. These dunes and the beach between Peninsula Park and West Jetty View Park make up Balboa Peninsula Beach.

A paved path for bikers, runners, and skaters starts behind the dune and continues all the way north past the Newport Pier. This area of the peninsula gets fewer visitors than the beaches farther north especially the those close to the piers.

At the south end of the peninsula you’ll find West Jetty View Park Beach which is better-known as The Wedge for the surf wave that forms in the corner formed by the long rock jetty and the beach.

Parking for Balboa Peninsula Beach can be found along Balboa Boulevard and Ocean Boulevard in addition to the lot a Peninsula Park.
