About Del Mar Beach at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California

Del Mar Beach is a military-only beach on federal property in Camp Pendleton north of Oceanside. It’s a wide sandy beach located between Oceanside Harbor and the mouth of Santa Margarita River, a distance of about 1.5 miles. Unfortunately, Del Mar Beach is just for military personnel and their guests.

Those that get access to this excellent sandy beach are lucky. Surfing is reportedly good here too.

Del Mar Beach Resort has cottages right on the beach offering Marine Corps and other military families a pleasant place to stay. There’s a large RV park on the beach as well. Ramones Cantina is a Mexican restaurant on the beach between the cottages and the campground.

Oceanside and Carlsbad are nearby to the south of Camp Pendleton with more beaches and amenities for visiting families. Oceanside Harbor Beach is the nearest non-military beach.
