About Gleason Beach in Bodega Bay, California

Gleason is a narrow rocky beach south of Duncans Landing along the Sonoma County coast. There is a steep trail down to the beach from the south part of the parking area alongside Highway 1. If you want to visit the beach, then check tide tables and come here at low tide. When the tide is out you can walk in and out of huge sea stacks that punctuate the shoreline here. It’s an amazing feeling to move around these massive rocks. At the north end of Gleason Beach is Rock Point a pullout picnic area just off Highway 1 and beyond that is Duncans Cove Beach at Duncan’s Landing (all these beaches are part of Sonoma Coast State Park). South of Gleason is an area where the ocean is eating away the bluff and destroying homes in the process – several have been removed or are condemned. Note that it is very dangerous to swim at Gleason and other beaches in this area.
