About Goat Rock Beach in Jenner, California
Goat Rock Beach is located between Goat Rock Point and the Russian River along the Sonoma County shore near the town of Jenner. It’s a beautiful beach to say the least and is an excellent beachcombing shore with driftwood and other items to discover, including seals.
If the local colony of harbor seals is present (typically at the river mouth from March through July) stay at least 50 yards back for their safety. Dogs are prohibited from the beach north of Goat Rock due to the possibility of marine mammals at the beach, however they are allowed on Blind Beach south of Goat Rock. Note that the ocean here is part of the Russian River State Marine Conservation Area so fishing is prohibited.
The wave currents are too dangerous for swimming in the ocean next to Goat Rock, but you can swim on the river side if you can tolerate the cold water. Kayaks are available for rent in Jenner and it’s easy to kayak over to Goat Rock Beach from town.
There are two parking lots for Goat Rock Beach. One is at the north end of Goat Rock Road with easy access to the sand spit at the mouth of the river and the other is right below Goat Rock itself (also reached from Goat Rock Road).
The park and surrounding land at Goat Rock is part of Sonoma Coast State Park.

Can you Collect Rocks from Goat Rock Beach and Blind Beach ?
Response from California Beaches
No, you may not remove rocks from any beach in California. Thank you for respecting the natural environment of these beautiful places by leaving them undisturbed.
That page says “Due to the protected status of the seals, DOGS are NOT allowed on Goat Rock Beach.” However they are allowed on Blind Beach which is south of the parking lot by the Rock.
There is an error-dogs are indeed allowed.
