Las Tunas County Beach

Las Tunas County Beach is a rocky beach in eastern Malibu. The shoreline in this area is eroding away so much that protective measures are being taken to protect Pacific Coast Highway and the homes below it.

This narrow beach is mostly used as a public fishing spot, but scuba divers enter the water here too. There is not enough sand for sunbathing except at low tide and the sound of PCH would ruin any chance for relaxation. There is not much of an opportunity for beachcombing either, but at low tide the beach is a public right-of-way for walking in both directions below the homes. Some people swim at Las Tunas Beach, but don’t do so after rains as Pena Creek can empty bacteria onto the beach.

Los Angeles County staffs a lifeguard tower for those few that frequent this beach and they provide chemical toilets too, but don’t go out of your way to stop at Las Tunas as there are so many better ones nearby including Topanga Beach and Will Rogers State Beach.

A small parking lot for Las Tunas Beach is at 19444 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu and there are street spots along PCH too.
