About Mariposa Beach in San Clemente, California

Mariposa Beach is a San Clemente City Beach access point in northern San Clemente, CA. The entrance to this long walkway begins where West Mariposa and West Escalones avenues meet on the edge of a housing development (use address 260 W Escalones if mapping it). At the bottom of the walkway is a footbridge for the San Clemente Coastal Trail which goes north to North Beach and south to the San Clemente Pier and beyond. Below this footbridge is a pedestrian underpass that dips under the railroad tracks to the beach. At high tide this narrow beach can be under water, but if you time your visit right, this is an uncrowded sandy spot to spread out on. Find street parking near the access entrance and be careful not to block driveways.
