About Ocean Beach Dog Beach in San Diego, California

Dog Beach is the northern portion of Ocean Beach City Beach where it extends to the mouth of the San Diego River. Dogs are generally allowed north of the Ocean Beach Bike Path and prohibited between the path and the Ocean Beach Pier. Dog Beach is a wide sandy spit that faces the long rock jetty that separates the river from the Mission Bay Entrance Channel. The Dog Beach parking lot is at the west end of West Point Loma Boulevard in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Diego.
