About Old Haul Road Beach in Fort Bragg, California
This popular beach in MacKerricher State Park doesn’t have an official name. Locals just call it the beach next to the Old Haul Road. This quarter-mile long sandy beach is backed by an irregular low bluff that creates little pockets for privacy. It’s easy access from three hotels on the bluff. Park in the lot along Highway 1 (Main Street) that is signed MacKerricher State Park – South Coastal Trail Access. This lot is located between The Beachcomber Motel and the Surf & Sand Lodge. From the lot, cross over the Haul Road Multi-Use Trail and walk toward the ocean on one of the dirt trails. Then look for a route down the bluff to the sand. At the south end of this bluff the Haul Road Trail crosses a wooden trestle above Pudding Creek Beach.
