San Diego has it all: Gorgeous beaches that range from perpetually packed tourist spots to hidden local gems, theme parks, a vibrant nightlife, excellent dining scene and numerous historic attractions, just to name a few.

Needless to say, the term “budget hotel” seems like an oxymoron here. But fear not – it’s still possible to find a reasonably priced hotel stay in the San Diego area. These are a few of our favorites.

Pacific Shores Inn on Pacific Beach

Imagine sleeping right next to Pacific Beach for under $100 per night. Clean, comfortable and accommodating, this charming little hotel offers just that. Single queen rooms rent for as little as $70 nightly, while the most expensive room, a junior suite with a kitchen, rents for $160 (rates vary based on the season). The fee includes free parking, use of the pool, a continental breakfast, and coffee in the lobby.

If you stay at this hotel, check out their onsite rental equipment. They’ve partnered with a local company to offer guests snorkeling gear, surf boards, kayaks, and plenty of other beach gear.

La Jolla Village Lodge

This little no-frills La Jolla gem costs around $110 per night. The location is wonderful – you’ll be a short walk from shopping, dining and the beach. Plus, you’ll have all the amenities you need at La Jolla Village Lodge, such as a free continental breakfast and WiFi.

La Jolla Riviera Inn

The La Jolla Riviera Inn is located within the La Jolla Shores Beachside Community. Relaxing and serene, this is the place to come when you’re ready for some peace and quiet. Rates vary, but one-bedroom suites here often go for $139, which is a great deal for such a cozy space. Plus, you’ll be close to the best of San Diego, like Balboa Park.

Town and Country San Diego

We’re not entirely sure how these rooms rent for $97 – $157 per night on average, but they do. Town and Country San Diego is located in the Mission Valley, and this hotel defines laid back elegance. The property is close to all the best things La Jolla has to offer, but you may not want to leave the beautiful outdoor pool area.

Carlsbad by the Sea Resort

Carlsbad by the Sea Resort is designed to make you feel at home. Their kid-friendly hotel is often full of little ones excited to go to Lego Land. But adults also enjoy this resort, especially the pool and the buffet breakfast. Also appreciated: The $116 average nightly cost.

Each hotel on this list has a great reputation. But if you’re looking for a more inclusive list, we’ve listen plenty of San Diego hotels here.
