Only an hour and a half away from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara serves as one of Southern California’s best places for a weekend trip. Stick to our itinerary below to be sure that you’ll have the best experience the city has to offer.

Friday

After arriving in Santa Barbara, check in at the Harbor View Inn. Its prime location overlooks Stearns Wharf and the Santa Barbara Harbor. Done adventuring? Catch the last meal of the day at the famous Toma Restaurant & Bar, just a 5 minute walk from your hotel.

Saturday

Start the day off right by getting breakfast at the East Beach Grill, where you can enjoy your food outdoors overlooking East Beach. Catch a cab afterward to the corner of Santa Barbara and Cota Street, where you’ll find the Farmer’s Market in full swing. It’s a great place to buy snacks for the rest of your trip, as well as souvenirs made by local artisans.

Once you’ve got your market fill, head on over to Chase Palm Park. It’s home to hundreds of the city’s iconic palms, as well as a carousel, playground, pond, and access back to the sunny East Beach. An exquisite lunch awaits you just a few minutes away at the Santa Barbara FishHouse. You can also find other popular restaurants on the western side of Santa Barbara Harbor, including Brophy Bros and Chuck’s Waterfront Grill.

We recommend spending the rest of the afternoon soaking up the sun at the East Beach, kayaking or surfing with equipment that can be rented at the harbor. By the time the sun starts going down, you can head back to Stearns Wharf to catch one of the much-talked-about Sunset Cruises.
