Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve is a rocky beach and bluff top park between Lunada Bay and Bluff Cove that is owned and maintained by the city of Palos Verdes Estates. The grass park follows the uneven bluff edge along Paseo Del Mar. A path called the Blufftop Trail meanders through this park.

Access to the beach is via steep, rugged trails down the bluff at several spots. Look for routes at the intersections with Epping Road, Cloyden Road, and Chiswick Road. These are very exposed and dangerous routes. The safest route is the “Drain Pipe Trail” between homes across from Cloyden Road. This trail, which runs next to a huge storm drain pipe, has been filled in with rough concrete and rocks which make the footing much better.

Because of the difficult access it is likely that you’ll have this beach all to yourself, especially during the week. Excellent tide pools are exposed at lower tides all along Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve. If you walk far enough to the south you’ll discover the remnants of an old shipwreck at Palos Verdes Point next to Lunada Bay.

Street parking can be found along Paseo Del Mar. If you are here to just walk the Blufftop Trail, then the best place to start is the parking lot at Paseo Del Mar and Palos Verdes Drive West.
