About Arroyo Quemada Beach in Goleta, California

Arroyo Quemada Beach is a public beach in front of the small private community of Arroyo Quemada west of Santa Barbara. The private road that passes through the housing development is gated on both ends. The public parking area is along the southern entrance to the community on Arroyo Quemada Lane. This road begins at an unsigned intersection with Highway 101 about two miles north of the exit for Refugio State Park. Turn toward the ocean at this intersection and drive down to a pull-out parking area outside the closed gate. A boot-beaten path crosses the railroad tracks then descends steeply to the beach next to a crumbling concrete wall. In the sand are unique rock formations and tide pools that are fun to check out at lower tides. From the beach access you can walk north to the wider part of the beach in front of the homes at the Arroyo Quemado Creek mouth (note the different spelling) or explore south to Tajiguas Beach. At high tide the beach is all wet and beach walkers could get trapped by the water so consider visiting Arroyo Quemada Beach at low tide.
