About Wrights Beach in Bodega Bay, California

Wrights Beach is the largest sandy beach between Bodega Bay and the Russian River in Sonoma County. It’s a great destination for day or overnight use. There is a campground with 25+ camp spots right on the ocean and you’ll find a day-use picnic area at the same entrance too. The campground is small and popular so you’ll need camping reservations during the summer. At the south end of the beach there is another day-use area known as Duncans Landing (a.k.a. “Death Rock”) that you should check out if you have time. Just stay away from the area where waves crash on the rocks.

Hikers will enjoy the Kortum Trail that starts at Wrights Beach and continues north to Shell Beach and other beach access points along the way. Wrights Beach and Duncans Landing are just two of the many shoreline accesses in Sonoma Coast State Park. Don’t consider swimming in the ocean here because of strong currents and watch for large sneaker waves that can roll in and knock down those close to shore.
