About Shell Beach in Sea Ranch, California

Shell Beach is surrounded by private property in the Sea Ranch community, but it is a Sonoma County Parks beach and is open to the public. The beach here is like getting 2 for 1. Shell Beach has two small sandy coves divided by a rocky point but still connected on the sand. There is a public parking lot along Highway 1 just south of Whale Bone Reach Road. From the lot a wide access trail takes you to the beach (about a 2/3 mile hike each way). Toilets are provided at the parking area. The beach is stunning, but don’t venture into the water as it is too cold and dangerous for swimming.
