Believe it or not, it’s possible to sleep by the beach without spending a fortune, even in California. Previously, we listed some budget-friendly beach hotels that everyone seemed to enjoy, so we thought we’d add to that list. The following accommodations all rent for under $200 per night and are clean, comfortable and highly recommended by travelers.

A note: Some of these hotels may have higher rates during peak travel season (summer) and holidays. We recommend booking early and traveling at off-peak times if saving money is important.

Beach Bungalow Hostel, San Diego

beachbungalow

Located in the Pacific Beach area, the Beach Bungalow Hostel has private rooms available, sometimes for under $100 per night (averaging about $130). You’ll pay about one third of that if you don’t mind sleeping dormitory style. You’ll also enjoy free Wi-Fi, free daily breakfast and a community kitchen.

Beachcomber Motel, Fort Bragg

The Sea View Inn has several accommodation options, but in late spring, you can score a partial ocean view room for $175 per night. You’ll pay about $200 for a studio apartment on the beach, but for a full kitchen and all the comforts of home, that’s still an excellent deal.
