More California Beach Hotels That Won’t Break The Bank
Believe it or not, it’s possible to sleep by the beach without spending a fortune, even in California. Previously, we listed some budget-friendly beach hotels that everyone seemed to enjoy, so we thought we’d add to that list. The following accommodations all rent for under $200 per night and are clean, comfortable and highly recommended by travelers.
A note: Some of these hotels may have higher rates during peak travel season (summer) and holidays. We recommend booking early and traveling at off-peak times if saving money is important.
Beach Bungalow Hostel, San Diego
Located in the Pacific Beach area, the Beach Bungalow Hostel has private rooms available, sometimes for under $100 per night (averaging about $130). You’ll pay about one third of that if you don’t mind sleeping dormitory style. You’ll also enjoy free Wi-Fi, free daily breakfast and a community kitchen.
Beachcomber Motel, Fort Bragg
At this gorgeous Fort Bragg motel, you’ll be spoiled by ocean views from your hotel room’s private deck, jacuzzi tubs and a free continental breakfast. May rates average around $160 per night.
Southern California Beach Club, Oceanside
The oceanfront accommodations here average $159-$189 per night, and you’ll get a mini condo with a kitchenette, sofa sleeper, dishwasher, microwave and private patio or balcony. This is a quiet place, and the minimum age to stay is 21.
Munras Inn, Monterey
The Munras Inn is a beautiful property in Monterey with rooms averaging around $149 nightly. They offer a free breakfast, in-room amenities like a coffee maker and microwave, and children 12 and under stay free.
The Cadillac Hotel, Venice
The Cadillac Hotel has become a Venice icon, and this 100-year-old property is just as charming as ever. Rates are $165 and up in the summer, even cheaper in the off-season, and you’ll be right on the ocean.
Radisson Hotel, Newport Beach
If you’re flying to your Newport Beach destination, book a stay at the Radisson Hotel. They’re located near the airport, but the hotel has a free shuttle, and they’re minutes away from the top attractions. Rates start at $135 for a mid-May stay.
Sea View Inn at the Beach, Manhattan Beach
The Sea View Inn has several accommodation options, but in late spring, you can score a partial ocean view room for $175 per night. You’ll pay about $200 for a studio apartment on the beach, but for a full kitchen and all the comforts of home, that’s still an excellent deal.
