Avila Beach is a quiet seaside community on the Central California coast in San Luis Obispo County. Once made famous by the film California Dreaming, the beach remains sheltered from wind in the area, offering a nice, warm stretch of sand.

There are some beautiful hotels in this area for anyone desiring a Central Coast getaway. These are a few of our favorites.

Avila Lighthouse Suites

The Avila Lighthouse Suites sits right along the beach, offering a restful respite from reality with all the amenities you need to fully relax. There’s an onsite spa with plenty of treatments, a beautiful pool, some amazing dining options nearby and a well-stocked breakfast room. Accommodations range from ADA rooms to the luxurious Villa Suites.

Avila La Fonda Hotel

Enjoy unparalleled elegance (and authentic Spanish architecture) at the Avila La Fonda Hotel. Beautiful solid wood doors, traditional Saltillo tile and other details add to the experience. Amenities include complimentary WiFi, 24 hour concierge service, a 24 hour guest pantry and even a nightly wine reception.

San Luis Bay Inn

Looking for something a little more budget-friendly? The San Luis Bay Inn sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with beautiful views of the Santa Lucia Mountains. Aside from the onsite pool and hot tub, you’ll find a set of tennis courts, a basketball court, free parking and a day spa on the property. The San Luis Bay Inn is a vacation ownership resort, meaning it is owned by 8,000 different owners. However, you do not have to have a time share to stay here.

Avila Village Inn

“Secluded elegance” is really the best way to describe the Avila Village Inn. Located off Highway 101, this upscale inn has incredibly comfortable rooms, free cookies and check-in (and free coffee and tea anytime), a pool and hot tub, concierge services, free WiFi and a complimentary local newspaper to read each morning.

Inn at Avila Beach

This oceanfront Avila Beach hotel is a charming and delightful place to stay. Cozy and comfortable, the building has a gathering room just off the lobby where guests can relax, entertain each other, enjoy some wine and dessert (there are dishes and glasses available) and eat breakfast in the morning. There’s also a library with DVDs, VHS tapes and collection of 33s, just for your musical enjoyment. Most of the rooms come equipped with an old-fashioned record player.

Enjoy your Avila Beach vacation… and while you’re there, take time to explore other parts of the Central Coast.
