Aliso Beach

Aliso Beach Park is a popular sandy beach in south Laguna Beach, California. Unlike many of the nearby beaches that only offer street parking, Aliso Beach has a large off-street parking lot next to Coast Highway (Hwy 1). Aliso is one of the top family-friendly beaches in Orange County.

Aliso Beach Park has a play area for kids, restrooms, fire rings, and an excellent long beach so it attracts lots of families. Lifeguards make it that much safer, especially since currents can be strong here.

Across the highway from the beach, there is a grass park and an overflow parking lot. Aliso Creek is next to this park and it often flows across the sand into the ocean near the middle of the beach. This creek is not safe for swimming and the water that mixes into the surf is usually contaminated from surface runoff, especially after rains. If you plan to swim here, it would be worth the walk to the extreme north end at Treasure Island Beach where the water will be cleaner and also safer due to some rocks that protect the shore at that location. If the lifeguards are on hand they are helpful and will answer questions about beach water quality.

The surf here can be wild and it crashes right onto the beach so it attracts body surfers, skimboarders, and others who enjoy playing rough in the waves.

Aliso Beach County Park has become a city-run facility recently, but the beach will still remain one of the best beaches in Laguna Beach.
