About Deer Creek Beach in Ventura, California
Deer Creek Beach is a narrow beach right next to Pacific Coast Highway west of Malibu, CA. The state provides a “Coastal Access” sign to draw attention to it, but it is otherwise un-named. Look for a concrete stairway that leads down from parking spaces along PCH. These stairs lead down to a sand and rock beach below. This beach can be found where Deer Creek Road heads inland from Pacific Coast Highway. At high tide this is a narrow beach. Fishermen can cast a line here and curious folks can stop to check it out, but it’s not a destination beach. In the late 1980’s a real estate group known as the Mansdorf Family Trust proposed this area as a destination resort with a hotel, two 18-hole golf courses, a man-made lake, a waterfront promenade, and a marina for 3500 boats. It’s hard to believe because there is no development along this section of the eastern Ventura coastline or in the barren hills above it.
