Estero Americano Beach on Bodega Bay is on the Marin County and Sonoma County border. Adventurous sea kayakers come here from the town of Bodega Bay to enjoy the protected waters of Estero Americano behind the beach. There is no way to get here by car or by foot since the estero is surrounded by private property on all sides. However, the general public can pull up on shore with a boat or kayak. The beach and the water behind it is protected as the Estero Americano State Marine Recreational Management Area. Depending on the time of year, there might be an opening to the estero or it might be completely covered by sand. At low tide you can explore south to more beaches below high bluffs.
