Fisherman’s Cove at Boat Canyon

Fisherman’s Cove Beach is a small south-facing beach tucked away in Laguna Beach, CA. The signage at the entrance to this beach is clearly signed Fisherman’s Cove, but locals also call it Boat Canyon Beach because of it’s location at the bottom of Boat Canyon. The stairway entrance is on the north side of the Diver’s Cove Condominiums on Cliff Drive just north of Heisler Park. This small sandy cove has a steep dropoff near the shore and a sharp rocky bottom in many places. Diver’s love to head out from this spot, but it’s not the safest place to swim with fins and a wetsuit. At high tide most of the beach will be wet. There is a large flat rocky point at the north end of the beach which the lifeguards say to avoid when swells are present. In the rock wall below the condo building there is a deep cave to duck into. This beach is hidden away so it can be a real gem when the tide is out and other beaches in the area are busy. Find parking along Cliff Drive nearby the beach entrance. Heisler Park isn’t far away if you are looking for restrooms and other amenities.
