About Golden Cove in Rancho Palos Verdes, California

Golden Cove is a semicircular cove just north of Point Vicente in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. This cove doesn’t have a sandy beach, but it has some of the best tide pools on the PV Peninsula. It is popular for scuba diving and is sometimes called Neptune Cove by divers.

Unfortunately the trail to the beach is steep and exposed in places. This trail begins near the south end of the parking lot on the bluff along Calle Entradero. Signage warns of dangerous conditions and discourages climbing over the railing.

From the bluff you can look down and see the amazing tide pools below. The rocky beach in the cove curls to the south from the tide pools and begs for exploration toward Point Vicente. Walking trails in Vicente Bluffs Reserve follow the bluff from the parking lot toward the Point Vicente Lighthouse in the distance.
