Hamilton Cove on Catalina Island

Hamilton Cove is a private gated community with popular vacation rentals just north of the town of Avalon on Santa Catalina Island. It’s about a 1.5 mile walk to this development from the ferry dock in Avalon. If you rent one of the condos or villas at Hamilton Cove they allow you to use a golf cart to travel back and forth to town for provisions and entertainment.

The tiny beach here is public as is the plush landing above it, so if you are up for a walk or can get a ride from Avalon, it’s an excellent place to visit. From Hamilton Cove it is possible to walk on boulders to another small beach around the point to the north, but don’t get trapped by the tide.

Hamilton Cove has all you’d expect from a resort community with a pool, sport courts, picnic facilities, and a beach on the cove. Snorkeling is good in the clear waters of this cove. Boat moorage is available just offshore and the view of the villas at night and the sunrise in the morning is spectacular.

Catalina Express operates passenger ferries daily to Catalina Island from the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point.
