About Horseshoe Cove in Jenner, California

Horseshoe Cove Beach is a remote rocky beach near the northern boundary of Salt Point State Park. It wraps around the back of Horseshoe Cove below high rocky cliff faces right next to Highway 1. There is a pull-out parking area along the highway directly above the beach where a hand-made sign on a dilapidated wood fence indicates <- State Park | Private Property -> (see our map). South of this lot there is another pullout with room for maybe two cars that has a brown state trailhead sign. It’s possible to hike into the state park from here but it’s unclear if a trail leads down to Horseshoe Cove. We’ve read that scuba divers lug their equipment down to this narrow shoreline somehow.

The view of Horseshoe Cove, the rocky headlands, and the crashing waves on the rocks are enough reason to stop here and take photos. Kruse Rhododendron State Reserve is just south of here and offers great hiking opportunities which are especially nice during late spring when the rhodies are in bloom.
