About Malibu Colony Beach in Malibu, California
Malibu Colony Beach is the narrow strip of sand in front of homes along the private gated Malibu Colony Road in Malibu. Many maps and locals simply refer to this as Malibu Beach. There is no public entrance into the Malibu Colony neighborhood so to get to Malibu Beach you must walk west at low tide from Malibu Lagoon State Beach or walk east from Malibu Road. The public portion of Malibu Beach is below the mean high tide level, but this beach is commonly all wet so the entire beach is California public property. The real attraction of this beach is walking on the sand and checking out all the Malibu Colony beach homes many with wooden stairways from their decks to the beach. At lower tides the rocks and some tide pools are exposed at the ends of Malibu Beach.
To get to Malibu Beach, park at the Malibu Lagoon State Park entrance at the intersection of Cross Creek Road and Pacific Coast Highway. Another option is to drive to the address 24056 Malibu Road where there is an open area with access to the beach. Note that this access requires a steep climb down large boulders and is not an official public access.
