About Morro Strand State Beach in Morro Bay, California

Morro Strand State Beach is divided into two parts that are in the cities of Morro Bay and Cayucos. The main southern portion of this state park is in Morro Bay between Morro Rock Beach and the rocky point at North Point. At the park’s main entrance at Yerba Buena Street and Highway 1, there is a small day-use parking area and an 80-site campground. Another larger day-use parking lot is provided on Azure Street in a housing development south of the campground.

Morro Strand State Beach is a wide sandy beach backed by shallow dunes. From the parking lot on Azure St. there is a wide path that heads south quite a distance, but it’s just a short walk on this path to Cloisters Community Park which has grass lawns, a playground, and wetlands with a viewing platform.

Morro Rock is about a mile and a half south of the Azure Street lot and impossible not to see from Morro Strand State Beach, the campground, or anywhere along this shoreline.
