About Toyon Bay on Catalina Island in Avalon, California

Toyon Bay Beach, also called Bannings Beach, is a private beach located just north of Avalon on Catalina Island. It’s home to a youth camp called CIMI Toyon Bay that serves California’s 4th through 12th graders.

The beach at Toyon Bay is privately owned by Catalina Island Conservancy and used for educational purposes. Guided Discoveries, a non-profit group that runs the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI), offers outdoor educational programs for kids through summer camps.

The Catalina Express operates ferries daily to Catalina Island from the mainland in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Dana Point.
