Whispering Sands Beach in La Jolla, California

Whispering Sands Beach is a city beach located at the north end of Marine Street Beach in La Jolla. This area is sometimes referred to as Nicholson Point Park even though there is no park here and the area is locally known by a different name. Surfers and divers refer to the reef off the point as “Horseshoe.” The rocks at Nicholson Point north of Whispering Sands Beach have unique shapes, cracks, coves, and even some amazing tidepools. The access walkway from the street is difficult to find. It can be found between apartment buildings 100 and 202 on Coast Boulevard near Prospect Street. You can also get here by walking north on Marine Street Beach to where the sand ends and the rocky bluff begins. From Whispering Sands Beach you can walk north on the bluff to Hospital Beach at Coast Boulevard Park or continue all the way to La Jolla Cove.
